The oil has a "chemical" aftertaste that is overpowering. I know toasted sesame seeds can have a slightly bitter taste and takes getting used to, but the lingering taste was close to rancid.

Just to help us understand this better, may we ask if you noticed any damage to the packaging or if the product was close to or past its expiry date? Since this sesame oil is from a well-established brand, it may also be helpful to check whether anything else you’ve recently tasted seems unusual, or to try the oil again on its own to see if the taste is still present. Sometimes taste perception can be affected by external factors or health conditions as well.
